Jeffrey Dean Morgan on playing The Walking Dead’s Negan

InterviewsThe Walking Dead

The Internet exploded when word came out that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be playing The Walking Dead’s biggest comic book villain Negan when season 6 returns in February (although look for Negan to show up near the very end of the season). Having already played one psychopath in the Comedian from Watchmen, Morgan seemed like the perfect choice to play the foul-mouthed, barbed-wire-covered-baseball-bat toting Negan.

As excited as fans are to see him in the role, the actor himself may be even more excited to carry around that bat (named Lucille). That became clear when Morgan dropped by Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, Channel 105) this morning to chat with Jessica Shaw and yours truly about his addition to The Walking Dead universe as well as his charismatic turn as lawyer-turned-investigator Jason Crouse on The Good Wife. While Morgan admitted that continuing after this season on both shows is going to be difficult (“We’ll see how that turns out. It’s gonna be f—ing hard.”), he had plenty to say about his brand new job as AMC’s biggest baddie yet.

Jeffrey joins ‘The Walking Dead’ as villain Negan

NewsTV

The Walking Dead is about to get its biggest bad guy yet.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast as Negan on the zombie show, AMC confirmed to USA TODAY. Negan is a character that fans of the original Dead comics know very well, a nasty villain who leads a group called The Saviors. In the comics Negan and the Saviors subjugate the Alexandrians in exchange for protection against the Wolves. AMC wouldn’t give any further details on when or for how long Morgan would appear on the show, but considering that the Wolves and the Alexandrians have already clashed this season, fans may speculate that Negan will show up soon.

Supernatural: Jeffrey Dean Morgan Wants to Return

NewsSupernatural

Count Jeffrey Dean Morgan among those Supernatural fans anxious for a John Winchester resurrection.

The actor — who last appeared as Sam and Dean’s late pa nearly a decade ago — tells TVLine that he wants back in bad. “I would absolutely love to come back,” he says. “There’s no official talk that I know of, but I’m always in contact with Jared [Padalecki] and Jensen [Ackles] — they’re very good friends of mine”.

With me it’s always been about scheduling,” adds Morgan, who just booked a season-long stint on The Good Wife. “But hopefully we can find a little time and they’ll write something that I can do. It would be a great joy to go back and play with those guys.

And Morgan only has one small request of The CW: he wants Ackles to helm his comeback episode. “I would love to have Jensen direct me, honestly.” he says. “I think that would be a very cool deal. That’s always what I’ve been pushing for.

Creatively, there has never been a better time for Papa Winchester to resurface. At Comic-Con last weekend, executive producer Andrew Dabb hinted that Season 11 (bowing Oct. 7) will dredge up “some things” from Sam and Dean’s past that “we haven’t dealt with in a long time but will have some really interesting repercussions for both guys.”

Dabb later added that Morgan’s return was inevitable. “To me, it’s not if he comes back, it’s when. When’s the right time? When it’s going to be for maximum impact? What you don’t want to do is bring a character like that back and waste the opportunity.”

Halle Berry doesn’t want to share Jeffrey Dean Morgan with ‘The Good Wife’

ExtantGeneralThe Good Wife

Jeffrey Dean Morgan was recently added to The Good Wife as a series regular, but his Extant co-star Halle Berry isn’t so sure she’s onboard with Morgan’s new gig.

“I don’t even know how I feel about sharing him with The Good Wife,” Berry joked during an interview with EW’s Lynette Rice in the Entertainment Weekly Lounge at San Diego Comic-Con. “I’m ambivalent. I’m not sure I’m happy about this yet. He’s my man. ‘What do you mean, going on The Good Wife?’”

Morgan was cast as Alex on the CBS drama, a “calm, experienced hourly investigator” hired by Alicia (Julianna Margulies) during the show’s upcoming seventh season. So, will Morgan and Marguiles start an on-screen relationship?

“He better not be,” Berry joked. “I’m going to be highly upset.”

Added Morgan: “Halle probably wouldn’t allow that, so I’m going to have to say no. ‘Halle won’t let me be your love interest, Julianna. I’m so sorry.’”

“He’s mine,” added Berry. Watch the video below.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins ‘The Good Wife’ As New Regular

NewsProjectsThe Good WifeTV

Meet Kalinda’s replacement. Jeffrey Dean Morgan will join The Good Wife as a series regular for the CBS drama’s upcoming seventh season. He will play Alex, a calm, experienced hourly investigator whom Alicia (Julianna Margulies) hires.

The Good Wife, from CBS TV Studios, ended Season 6 with two vacancies in its regular cast after the departures of original cast member and fan favorite Archie Panjabi, who played intrepid investigator Kalinda Sharma, and recent addition Matthew Goode, who stepped down after a year as a regular. Morgan already is in the CBS/CBS Studios family: He is a regular on their summer drama series Extant, which he joined in the current second season as the male lead opposite Halle Berry. Extant got off to a slow Season 2 start but Morgan could in theory juggle both series as he remains a regular on Extant. (That show only films 13 episodes a year.)

On The Good Wife, which returns with originals on October 4, he joins fellow regulars Margulies, Christine Baranski, Matt Czuchry, Alan Cumming and Zach Grenier.

“We’ve loved and admired Jeffrey Dean Morgan for years, and we were thrilled to hear that Julianna did too, so it was a no-brainer to ask him to join our troupe,” said The Good Wife creators/executive producers Robert and Michelle King.

Morgan also recently starred in the History miniseries Texas Rising and toplined Starz’s period drama series Magic City.
